kemaren saya mendapatkan undangan dari International Center Keio University. Isi dari undangan tsb adalah utk ikut menghadiri penganugerahan gelar doktor kehormatan (doktor honoris causa) bidang media and governance dari Keio University kepada Pak Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono pada tanggal 27 November 2006 jam 14.30 bertempat di Keio University Mita Campus, Minato-ku, Tokyo.

finest jazz live concert performance

Do you know the finest jazz live concert performance happened on 15 May 1953 at Massey Hall, Toronto, Canada ?
The performer are: Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus, Bud Powell, and Max Roach.
Some interesting events happened on this concert. First, The concert schedule actually conflicted with a televised heavyweight boxing match between Rocky Marciano and Jersey Joe Walcott so before 2nd session began (when break time) the musicians watched televion in a bar in front of Massey Hall. Second, Charlie Parker performed trumpet which borrowed from music shop at Toronto.

If you are jazz lover, you should buy the CD ! :-)

INHERENT

INHERENT adalah backbone jaringan komputer antar perguruan tinggi di Indonesia.
Jaringan ini beroperasi menggunakan teknologi SDH dan dengan kapasitas 155 Mbps menghubungkan node utama di pulau jawa seperti Untirta, Dikti, UI, ITB, Undip, UGM, ITS, dan UniBraw.

Universitas selain node utama diatas dapat bergabung ke universitas node utama diatas dengan menggunakan wireless, fiber optic, LC, dsbnya.

selain universitas di pulau jawa, dalam waktu dekat INHERENT juga akan menghubungkan node universitas di luar pulau Jawa.

INHERENT diharapkan dapat menjadi media utk pertukaran hasil penelitian antar universitas di Indonesia, juga menjadi media komunikasi yang efisien dan efektif. Selain itu INHERENT dapat juga dijadikan ajang ujicoba teknologi baru misalnya IPv6.

XML Resume Library

I found XML resume library last week.

and its very interesting !

Before I use XML resume library, I used SGML to make my resume based on Matthew Fuller's The Resume DTD. For FreeBSD users its recommended using Matthew Fuller's The Resume DTD because his works based on FreeBSD's docproj. All you need, is only to install FreeBSD's docproj from ports.

IMHO, XML resume library is quite complex because it needs Java and some application based on Java from the APACHE project.

mobil vs kereta listrik

seminggu ini saya lihat iklan Odakyu yng mengatakan emisi gas buang CO2 dari mobil jauh lebih besar dari kereta listrik. Dalam hal ini iklan tsb mengatakan mobil menghasilkan 880 liter gas CO2 sedangkan kereta listrik hanya 90 liter saja.
Cuma saya ndak tau itu angka didapat darimana dan jangka waktunya berapa lama, dalam 1 hari ? dalam 8 jam ? lagipula daya angkut kereta listrik jauh lebih besar daripada mobil.
Makanya gunakan kereta listrik, meskipun tiap pagi harus berdesak-desakkan :-)

Kamera digital dan FreeBSD

Spesifikasi kamera digital: Canon IXY 30a
OS: FreeBSD-7.0-CURRENT 5 Juni 2006.

Aplikasi menggunakan gphoto2 yang dapat di install melalui ports:
/usr/ports/graphics/gphoto2

Konfigurasi kernel yng penting diikutsertakan:
device uhci # UHCI PCI->USB interface
device ohci # OHCI PCI->USB interface
device ehci # EHCI PCI->USB interface (USB 2.0)
device usb # USB Bus (required)
device ugen # Generic

Selanjutnya me-reconfigurasi devfs seperti yng dideskripsikan di:

(kalo ngga mau repot dengan urusan devfs ini pakai user root saja untuk akses ke USB device)

Kalau sudah selesai ya tinggal dicobain aja toh.
Colokkan usb kabel dari kamera ke usb port komputer, nyalakan kamera, jreng ! liat dmesg.
Contohnya:

IPv6 Day !

Sudah lama tidak nulis blog :-)

Pada tanggal 6 Juni 2006, komunitas Internet didukung oleh IETF, RIR (Regional Internet Registry), dan ISOC menetapkan sebagai hari IPv6 (IPv6 day), dimana pada tgl 6 Juni 2006 tersebut jaringan eksperimental IPv6 "6Bone" yang digagas oleh Bob Fink dinyatakan berhenti beroperasi. Dengan demikian diharapkan prefix 6Bone setelah tgl 6 Juni 2006 tersebut tidak muncul lagi di global routing table Internet.

Terima kasih kepada para early adopter yang telah bertahun-tahun mempopulerkan IPv6.

tiap kali lapi.itb.ac.id restart postfix nya selalu ndak jalan, usut punya usut ternyata sekarang postfix yang diinstall dari ports menggunakan rc.NG startup script :-)
jangan lupa postfix_enable="YES" di /etc/rc.conf :-)

We are working on providing a lot more information on the RIR IP address delegations but need fully access to all RIR's whois records for that. Another thing I want to do is to show the number of RBL (Spamhaus, etc) listed IPs per AS. Contacting those RBLs is rather difficult and any help to discuss this directly with the RBL administrators is appreciated.

Another request: So far we've got data servers in Europe and USA but none in Asia-Pacific. If you are able to host either a dedicated or shared (vmware/xen) FreeBSD server in Japan or South Korea with excellent inter-Asia connectivity please contact me directly.

memang bulan penuh kejutan dan rezeki dari Allah Swt utk aku.

Andre Oppermann melaporkan bahwa di milis FreeBSD-currrent bahwa FreeBSD-7.0-Current dapat melakukan ip forward dng kecepatan 729kpps dng spec hardware dual Opteron 852 (2.6Ghz) with Tyan S8228 mobo and Intel dual-GigE in PCI-X-133.
apakah ini berarti FreeBSD-7.0 cocok digunakan sbg router :-)
